(A) About Admissions and Student Adaptation

Our admissions application process has been initiated and we will arrange an online interview for students and parents upon receipt of application form completed and submitted online (  A final decision will be determined by taking the applicant’s interview performance and the academic results he/ she obtained in the current school into consideration.  Parents will be notified of the admissions results as soon as possible.

Student interviews will be conducted in English.  Applicants will be asked to share with us their thoughts on various items such as their learning journey, daily life, hobbies & interests and so forth to allow us to understand them better in terms of their learning attitude, thinking skills and ability to express.  We will also communicate with parents to get to know more about the educational ideas.

To assist our new students in adapting to TKHC’s learning and campus life, they are required to participate in the orientation activities that have been scheduled.

(B) School Curricula and Further Studies

School-based preparatory programme will be offered to students of Grades 7 and 8 (Secondary 1 and 2).  It aims at equipping students with a solid foundation for international education.  Students will be given chances to develop their communication skills, inquiry skills and self-management skills.  Grades 9 and 10 will focus on IGCSE programme.  Students will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for taking the IGCSE examination confidently.  In Grades 11 and 12, students can take the IBDP or GCE A-Level programme.  Upon completion, they are going to attend local or overseas universities.

Through the four years of study in Grades 7 to 10, students should have a good understanding of their own interests and abilities.  In addition, with reference to the result of of IGCSE and teachers’ advice, we believe that students can make an informed choice of studying the IBDP or GCE A-Level programme.  The number of classes concerning different programmes may vary from time to time in accordance with the preference of our students.

There are more than 15,000 UGC-funded local university degrees in Hong Kong while 12% of them (about 1,700) will be offered to non-JUPAS applicants and more than half of the seats available are taken by the IBDP or GCE A-Level students.  Many of them are accepted by The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  They are particularly welcomed by various faculties and departments, such as Medicine, Law, Dentistry and Architectural Studies.  In 2019, 40% of the students admitted to the Faculty of Medicine in The University of Hong Kong are the IBDP or GCE A-Level students.  To get accepted into universities, IBDP students should gain an overall score between 32 and 43 (*Note: The maximum score for the IBDP exam is 45.) while GCE A-Level students are required to have A or B in at least 3 subjects.

(C) Principal and Teaching Team

Mr. John CHEUNG, the Principal, has been engaged in local and overseas international education for more than 20 years.  He also has the successful experience of obtaining IB authorisations.   The two Assistant Principals are responsible for taking care of students’ academic development and well-being. Both of them possess extensive school management and teaching experience in international education.

local and overseas and we received good responses in our recruitment process.  Our teachers so far come from 8 countries/ regions and have relevant bachelor’s or master’s degrees as well as experience teaching international programmes.  As English is the main medium of instruction of TKHC, most of our teachers are foreign teachers while teachers who teach Chinese and related subjects are native speakers in Mandarin.

(D) Students’ Growth, Teacher-Student Ratio, ECA, etc.

TKHC attaches great importance to the moral and value education of students.  One of the Assistant Principals is responsible for students’ well-being while Dr. KW CHAN, the senior educator and our Education Director (Whole-Person Development), is going to implement character education in our school.  Specific programmes and activities include 「Chinese Culture Class」, 「Reading Classics・Getting Close to the Great People” and “Character Education Picture Books」.  We will also provide students with opportunities to attend volunteer training and participate in social charity activities to develop their spirit of serving others.  Two Homeroom teachers are allocated to each class to ensure that students’ individual needs can be addressed.  In addition, a registered nurse is assigned to promote health education and take care of students in need duly.

According to Education Bureau (EDB), normally a classroom is permitted to accommodate more than 40 students, but there will only be a maximum of 28 students in each class at TKHC.  The class and teacher ratio is 1:2 or slightly higher.  While conducting English Language classes, students in different classes will be divided into groups for differentiation.  Group learning will also be applied in other subjects when necessary.

Students will be given opportunities to enjoy activities that are related to subject-inquiry, sports, arts, dance, music, STEM and social services.  They will also be allocated to 6 houses across different grades for relevant activities and competitions.

(E) Campus and Logistics

TKHC provides free shuttle bus service. The pick-up and drop-off point is located at Tai Wo MTR station and TKHC takes only 10 to 15 minutes.

Students must stay at school for lunch.  They can choose to enjoy meals provided by the catering provider or bring their own lunch.
