Interdisciplinary Project (IDP)
A journey of learning, self-discovery and collaboration
The TKHC Interdisciplinary Project is a unique, year-long group project undertaken by all Grade 7 and Grade 8 students developed specially in-house for our students.
Students apply and combine the knowledge they learn in different subject disciplines to create a product of their own choosing, making full use of their creativity, interests and talents and putting into practice all their collaboration and communication skills.
The product they create is entirely up to them, subject to approval from their teachers. Each group pitches their idea(s) to their peers and teachers to get their feedback and suggestions.
If a group wishes to combine, say, a love biology of and V.A. they could create a diorama showing off their knowledge and love of the undersea world. Another group may have a shared passion for mathematics and music, so why not combine those interests to produce a number-and-music oriented computer game using their coding skills? Yet another group may have talented athletes who wish to create a series of instructional videos for beginners to help them develop their skills. The possibilities are endless and limited only by the students’ imagination and resources available to them.
As part of the project, students create a product, keep a detailed Process Journal and reflect on their project through a presentation at the end-of-year student showcase.
