Community service is in fact a kind of transforming experiential learning that can assist students in developing self-confidence & empathy, an initiative & willingness to help and building on their experiences that complement, in some way, what they are learning in school. Commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement to enhance the quality of life locally, nationally and globally is also undoubtedly an invaluable way to improve students’ abilities & attitudes, to allow them to take on greater responsibility & accountability for their actions, to meet & interact with new people and to gain perspective into the diverse nature of our world. Through service, they apply personal and social skills in real-life situations, such as decision-making and problem-solving. Our expectation is that the intellectual, social, cultural and emotional growth of students will be fostered.
We are glad to announce that we are now in the process of building partnerships and forging links with the wider community with the goal of offering numerous collaborative and reciprocal engagement opportunities to learners in response to authentic needs at TKHC and beyond. A teacher-in-charge has also been assigned as the coordinator who facilitates service opportunities to promote students’ self-awareness and to offer them diverse occasions for international-mindedness. We look forward to collaborating with different organizations.
